Everybody has their own understanding of what Frugal means. Some people practice an extreme degree of Frugality; they never go out, barely buy any clothes, and perhaps even dumpster dive. Although I am not that Frugal, I respect those who are. Frugality is not a clear cut definition, but rather an ideology; as long as one understands the value of saving money and strives to achieve that in some way they are practicing being Frugal. Let me tell you what I do.
I am the type of person that loves deals. I don’t necessarily buy the cheapest product, but I do buy the one that I deem to have the most value. For instance, whenever I shop for clothes I always go whenever there are sales or special deals. I am a fan of Brooks Brother clothing, even though they are not cheap. But I only shop there when there are 50% off sales. I know that 50% off $80 (Brooks Brothers cheapest dress shirts) is not exactly cheap, but for the quality, brand recognition, and sale price – I consider it a value; therefore, I tend to spend a lot on days when they do have sales. I rarely buy anything not on sale.
My heart bleeds whenever I have to pay retail price, unless it is a gift for someone else. I really can’t think of anything besides the necessities that I have paid regular price for. I feel like I do a great job in discovering deals and waiting until the right time to buy. Even if I want something really badly, I will wait until it goes on sale.
