Take some time out of your day and think about that question. Why do you save money? Is it to buy new clothes? Or become a philanthropist? Maybe it is for the thrill of having a lot of money? There is no correct answer, but it feels good to come up with your own answer and strive to achieve it.
Everyone has a different reason for saving money. I save money so that I can live a better life. I grew up extremely poor, so I want my future kids to have more than me. (I am not married yet, or have any kids, hence the “future”). I work hard and save as much as I can so I can reach that goal.
So what is your reason?

How to save Money ToysRUs edition
Hi,
Great question. I save money for various things. As I’m still a “young adult,” I’m not thinking too much about retirement, but I do put a way a part of my income toward the 401k. Also saving for travel, which is still important and there are many places I want to see while I’m still relatively mobile. The other big thing I save for is the unknown. These are big purchases that may come up because of the uncertainties of life, such as moving, travel in the event of a “life event” (ie wedding or god forbid funeral), medical expenses, job loss, etc. Homebuying isn’t on the horizon yet, though some of my savings for the unknown could be used for an eventual down payment.
All great reasons. I too save up so I can travel. In fact, I went to Southeast Asia this past summer and had a blast.Something that I could not have done without saving up for
For me number 1 priority is not so much about saving money as it is not wasting what I’ve earned. Everytime I look at an unused item that I’ve bought I think to myself, “How much of my time went into getting the money to pay for that?” I hate wasting my time and time is most definitely money.
I know how you feel; hate wasting time too. I am the type that gets mad whenever I have to wait for anything- especially traffic!
