I bet you’re expecting a spam article. But don’t worry, MoneyPig isn’t trying to sign you up for a Credit Monitoring rebill scam.  He just wants you to be informed about your Credit Score, because having excellent Credit can save you boatloads of money.  In the future,  MoneyPig will cover how good credit can save you money but this article will teach you how to find out your Credit Score.

So put away your credit cards and go to CreditKarma.com. Sign up for an account and then view your Credit Score. MoneyPig has been using CreditKarma since he was a little piglet, so he can vouch for the website’s legitimacy. CreditKarma doesn’t ask for your credit card info, only enough personal information so that they can process your Credit Score.  Here is some information straight from the FAQ section of their site.

Why do you provide free credit scores?
Credit Karma believes consumers have a right to know this information with no charge or without the bait and switch of 30 days free followed by enrollment products with confusing opt outs. We subsidize our cost of pulling the credit scores by selling advertising on the site.

How can this be free when other services charge people?
Our free credit scores are sponsored by partners who share our vision that consumers should have free and regular access to their score.
With that said, rest assured that Credit Karma will never share your information with third parties or even our partners without your explicit permission. Our privacy policy has been reviewed and approved by TRUSTe, an independent third party, to ensure your privacy is strictly protected.

Once you enter the necessary information CreditKarma will give you two credit scores – Vantage and Transrisk. The Vantage is a score created by the three major credit rating agencies – Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. Also you will receive the Transrisk score, which is a score provided by Transunion.

These scores basically show rate your credit worthiness and can affect how you qualify for certain financial offers- credit cards, loans, etc.

Conclusion: Sign up for CreditKarma.com to receive your credit score. You don’t need a credit card.

This whole post seems like a giant ad for CreditKarma. MoneyPig wishes he got paid but unfortunately has not received a single dime from CreditKarma. If any viewers know of any better service please let MoneyPig know.
